yellow honeydew

I'm not gonna lie, this past week has been great w/ my parents out of town =). To be able to do whatever, whenever is fantastic.

Thursday when I got home from work, there was a Harry and David package waiting for me from my Grandma!

Friday afternoon at work I needed some fuzzy caffeine and a Snickers.

Of course immediately after eating the Snickers I felt pretty gross from all the sugar so I had to bust out my sliced Harry and David pear and apple.

After work, I was very proud of myself for going for a run. It's amazing how not tired I feel after work when I know I have the weekend ahead of me.

Although the actual running part didn't feel all that great, I love the way I feel after I get back. So accomplished.

I also finished reading a super-cute book I bought on my Kindle for iPhone app. It's a sequel and just as good as the first.

Today was a busy day it seemed! I had to run to Ulta and Target and then the grocery store and also stopped at Southwood Nursery to spend my Easter giftcard and get some beautiful flowers for the backyard. Then I spent A LOT of time cleaning up the house and putting stuff away so my parents wouldn't have to come home to a mess. Then I planted all of the colorful flowers I bought! While I was planting my parents got home. It was nice to see them and the dogs were super happy they were home. I even ended up going for a run around 8:30! I'm very proud of myself for this because I was definitely not in the mood. When I got home I had a bowl of yellow honeydew melon I purchased a this morning. Hit-the-spot dessert!

One thing I love about Nike+ is that it is so fun to see your speed get smaller and smaller as time goes on!

Team in Training

For a long time now I have wanted to run a marathon. It's something that's been on my bucket list literally since high school but I have never really taken any steps towards that goal. Last year I ran my first 5K and it felt great. The trouble is that I have a difficult time pushing myself when things get rough. I get tired and want to stop. So I do.

I randomly heard of Team in Training through a flyer in the mail and have always had a slight interest in it. Tonight I went to an info meeting! Exciting but scary are two words I feel for the program after the meeting. The bottom line is that they only train for a couple events each season and the only two half-marathons are the Denver Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. Super cool right? Well, the fundraising minimums are $2,900 for Denver and $3,200 for San Fran. Granted  part of the money you fundraise goes toward your travel expenses so you literally pay nothing out of pocket for the event, but that is still a lot of money to raise! On the one hand, I just don't feel like I know that many people in general to raise that kind of cash. But on the other hand, you don't have fully commit (i.e. put a credit card on file so after the event you pay the difference between what you should have raised and what you actually raised) until 10 weeks before the event.

Part of me says to just forget it. Train on my own (or maybe through the running store in Tulsa) for the Route 66 half marathon. But the other half of me says I have nothing to lose for registering (besides the $25 sign up fee). If it gets close to time and I am no where near my fundraising goal, I can always just drop out of the program...tough decisions....

A visit from the Easter Bunny!

Since my parents left for vacation yesterday, I figured I wouldn't get any sort of Easter basket. I was mildly sad about that, since I have always gotten something, but didn't really think about it too much. Well, around 8:45am, shortly after my alarm went off my mom called. After I toweled try the dogs (it was raining), I called her back and she asked me if the Easter Bunny had arrived. I was thoroughly confused. Perhaps my aunt and uncle were supposed to drop something off at the door? I explained my confusion and then my mom told me to go check in the urn on the fireplace mantel....

All the treasures in my cute new gift bag!

Now I'm off to Southwood and Target to spend my new giftcards! Happy Easter!
